About Me

The Story of a Photographer

Hi, my name is Laura, I am 26, my favourite colour is blue, I devour books like nobody's business and oh I'm a photographer based in Berkshire!

I started my photography journey back in 2021 when I was taking photos of my border collie Lancelot (who is plastered all over this website!) and my husband suggested that I start doing this professionally. At first I thought he was insane as I was already a dance teacher and was gearing up to take over a pet care company but I got my first DSLR camera anyway and got to practising! In May 2021 LauraJoy Photography was then launched.

I stuck with only pets until December 2021 when I made the decision to branch out into newborn and family photography, and luckily for me my brother and his partner were expecting their first baby the following January so I didn't have to wait long to start practising this new venture! As soon as I started this new side of photography I immediately fell in love with it. I mean who wouldn't love baby cuddles as a part of their job?!

As I am moving along in my photography journey I have decided to branch out again into weddings, engagements, maternity and lastly dance! Now some of you may be thinking 'why so many different genres? Surely it would be best to stick with just one!' To that I say why limit myself? I love all areas of photography and the different images I can produce and provide for my amazing clients.

Out of all of these genres you may have noticed the odd one out...

I have always had a passion for dance and started myself when I was three. This progressed to me assisting teachers at the age of twelve, going to dance university at eighteen and eventually teaching at a local dance school from the age of twenty to twenty-five. I have now decided to combine my two passions of dance and photography to create beautiful and timeless photos!
